FIREFIGHTERS DEPENDENTS BOARD
A volunteer board of five members with two being members of City Council as selected by City Council each year. The Firefighters Dependents Board meets annually at year end to review any information pertaining to the Firefighters Dependents within the City of Northwood, Ohio.

BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
A volunteer board of seven residents appointed by City Council to serve five-year terms. The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers if there are zoning appeals cases for review. The meeting agenda is posted within the local newspaper prior to each meeting. The Zoning Inspector attends these meetings to introduce each zoning appeals case.

RECREATION BOARD
A volunteer board of five members appointed by City Council to serve five-year terms. The Recreation Board meets on the second Monday of each month in the Community Room of the Northwood Municipal Building at 7:30 p.m. The Ball Commissioner and a City Council Liaison attends these meetings.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
A volunteer commission of three members appointed by City Council to serve six-year terms. The Civil Service Commission meets as needed throughout the year for the purpose of reviewing Civil Service matters within the Police Department. A Civil Service test is administered each year alternating with a test for police/fire dispatcher and police officer positions.

PLANNING COMMISSION
A volunteer commission of seven residents appointed by City Council to serve four-year terms. The Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers if there are site plans, parcel split applications or referrals from City Council for review. The meeting agenda is posted at least 48 hours prior to the meeting in the lobby of the City Municipal Building. The Zoning Inspector and the City Engineer attend these meetings.

TREE COMMISSION
A volunteer commission of five members appointed by City Council to serve three-year terms. Additionally, one member of Council and the City Administrator shall act as Advisory Members. The Tree Commission meets monthly for the purpose of recommending and reporting on any matter regarding trees in the City. This includes implementing an annual Arbor Day observance, provide information about the selection, planting and maintenance of trees, and establishing and maintaining an inventory of City street trees.
