COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

The Committee of the Whole Meeting is a meeting of the entire City Council.  Meetings are held to discuss situations or problems that arise, where every member of Council should express himself and/or debate, or where discussion in the regular Council Meeting will consume too much time and interfere with the regular order of business.  If the Committee believes further study or investigation is indicated, it may recommend the matter be referred to a specific committee.  The Committee of the Whole generally meets every month on the first Thursday and meetings are open to the public.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Economic Development Committee is a sub-committee of City Council who meet to discuss any matters concerning economic development within the City of Northwood, Ohio, such as new business, proposed developments, annexations, etc.  The Economic Development Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Finance Committee meets to review financial matters of the City of Northwood, Ohio, such as the City's operational budget, money transfers and appropriations, and purchases, etc.  The Finance Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

SAFETY COMMITTEE

The Safety Committee meets with Police Chief and Fire Chief to review safety related matters within the City of Northwood, Ohio.  The Safety Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

SERVICE COMMITTEE

The Service Committee meets to review service matters within the City of Northwood, Ohio, which include items for the Streets Department and the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Department such as purchase of snow removal equipment, lawn care equipment, and parks equipment, etc.  The Service Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council Meetings.

ENVIRONMENTAL / SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE

The Environmental / Solid Waste Committee is a sub-committee of City Council that meets to review environmental issues or concerns, and to peridoically review solid waste disposal matters within the City of Northwood.  The Environmental / Solid Waste Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

UTILITIES COMMITTEE

The Utilities Committee meets to review the utilities matters within the City of Northwood, Ohio, to include water, sanitary and storm sewers, and issues of electric aggregation and lower gas rates for the citizens of Northwood.  The Utilities Committee meets monthly, and as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.  Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

SIDEWALK COMMISSION

The Sidewalk Commission serves as a sub-committee of the Utilities Committee and three Northwood residents are appointed by the Mayor and City Council to meet, as needed, to review proposed sidewalk, curb and ramp projects.

RECORDS COMMISSION

The Records Commission is entrusted with the authority and responsibility to insure access to all public records maintained by the City of Northwood.  It meets twice a year, as required by the Ohio Revised Code, to set rules and regulations pertaining to the retention and disposal of all City records, granting approval for all Schedules of Records Retention and Disposition prepared by City departments.
