The City of Northwood Community Relations Department is committed to continuous improvement in the partnership between the citizens of Northwood and the Northwood Police Department. The safety of the community and education of our children being our main goal.
 D.A.R.E.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is a drug abuse prevention program taught to elementary, middle and high school students. It teaches kids how to make better life choices, and remain drug free and violence free. The program is designed to use law enforcement officers to teach a formal curriculum to the students in a classroom setting.
 Bicycle Patrol
The Northwood Police Department continues with the Bicycle Patrol this year. Nine officers have been trained by the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) and are anxious to get started. The police department has two Raleigh Police Mountain Bikes outfitted with miscellaneous equipment and gear. This program puts the Northwood Police Officers a little closer to the citizens and offers a good patrol tool to keep our neighborhoods safer.
