Committees

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

The Committee of the Whole is a meeting of the entire City Council. Meetings are held to discuss situations or problems where every member of Council should express himself or debate on an issue. The Committee also meets when discussion in the regular Council Meeting will consume too much time and interfere with the regular order of business. If the Committee believes further study or investigation is indicated, it may recommend the matter be referred to a specific committee. The Committee of the Whole generally meets as needed and meetings are open to the public.


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Economic Development Committee is a sub-committee of City Council. They meet to discuss any matters concerning Economic Development within the City of Northwood such as new business's, proposed developments, annexations, etc. The Economic Development Committee meets monthly, or as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building. Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Finance Committee meets to review financial matters of the City of Northwood, such as the City's operational budget, money transfers and appropriations, and purchases, etc. The Finance Committee meets monthly, or as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building. Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

SAFETY COMMITTEE

The Safety Committee meets with Police Chief and Fire Chief to review safety related matters within the city.  The Safety Committee meets monthly, or as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building. Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council meetings.

TREE COMMITTEE

The Tree Committee meets to review tree maintenance and tree related matters within the city.  The Tree Committee meets monthly, or as needed, in the Conference Room of the City Municipal Building.

SERVICE COMMITTEE

The Service Committee meets to review matters for the city's Streets Department and the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Department. Topics discussed include purchasing of snow removal equipment, lawn care equipment, and parks equipment, etc. The Service Committee meets monthly, or as needed, in the conference room of the City Municipal Building. Meeting dates and times are scheduled at regular City Council Meetings.

SIDEWALK COMMITTEE

The Sidewalk Committee meets to review matters regarding the Sidewalks within the City of Northwood. The Sidewalk Committee meets as needed, in the conference room of the City Municipal Building. Meeting dates and times are scheduled per Mayor Schimmel's Request.

RECORDS COMMISSION

The Records Commission is entrusted with the authority and responsibility to insure access to all public records maintained by the City of Northwood.  It meets twice a year, as required by the Ohio Revised Code. Meetings are held to set rules and regulations pertaining to the retention and disposal of all City records, granting approval for all schedules of Records Retention and Disposition prepared by city departments.
